AVANO

How it will work

This page will never talk to a relay. It will talk to your phone. Your phone stays the only device that holds your keys, runs the encryption, and reaches the network over Tor. The browser is a window onto it.

That is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation. A browser tab cannot reach an onion service, so a web client that spoke to relays directly would be a web client without Tor. And routing your messages through a server of ours would make that server the place where they are decrypted, which is the one thing this product exists not to have.

The cost, stated plainly: when your phone is off or offline, Avano Web will not work.

Nothing on this page is a product claim about what is finished. What runs today, what is being built, and what we refuse to build is on avano.app/limits.
